Miryam Singer

Director of Arts and Culture

She took office in July 2010 and since then has dedicated her efforts to pursue the best possible conditions for the development of creation and research on the arts, at the UC. At the same time, she has strived to bring the university closer to different artistic and cultural manifestations in all of its endeavors. She was trained as an Architect at the University of Chile, and as an opera singer in the same university, in the USA, Switzerland, Italy and Israel. Her area of research is opera, whether as a singer, director, producer, or theater designer. In line with this vocation, she has developed an extensive career spanning more than 30 years as a singer and opera director.

She is a member of the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts and a National Prize for Musical Arts 2020

Arts and Culture Coordinator

Master in Cultural Mediation of the Arts by the University of Aix-Marseille and Bachelor of Art History and Archeology by the Jean Jaurès University, Toulouse, both in France. Her task at the Direction of Arts and Culture include the coordination of programs for students and staff, the articulation of networks with governmental agencies and the management of cultural projects that this office carries out inside and outside the University.

Sofía Gómez

Assistant for the Arts and Culture

Sixth semester student at College UC in Arts and Humanities, with a major in Cultural Management track music and a double major in Music Theory and Literature. She studied music at the Teatro del Lago School of the Arts, in Frutillar, and has participated in artistic projects in the cities of Huilo-Huilo, Chillán and Ayquina. In addition, she has been an assistant professor of courses at the UC Institute of Music and the UC School of Economics and Administration. Currently, she is a violist in the Orquesta Interfacultades UC and a chorister in the Gran Coro UC.

Marisol Vega

Assistant for the Arts and Culture

During the years 2020 to 2021, she served as a guide teacher in the “Respira, sana y canta” program, where she assisted in the vocal retraining of COVID-19 patients alongside a team of doctors from the Catholic University. She performed as a soloist in various concerts organized by Bach Santiago in 2022. Her roles included Marcellina in “Bodas de Fígaro” (2017), Nella in “Gianni Schicchi” (2018), Bastiana in “Bastián y Bastiana” (2019), and most recently, Pamina in “La flauta mágica” (2022 and 2023). She has taken part in several vocal recitals at Casa lo Matta (2022), where she sang selections from Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and the Countess (Bodas de Fígaro), among others. Additionally, she was a soloist in Handel’s “El Mesías” (2022) during a tour in Santiago and the Southern region of Chile. In 2022, she was awarded the special NMWA-Chile prize in the “Mujeres en la música IV” competition.

She is currently preparing for her debut at the Santiago Municipal Theater, performing the role of Papagena in Mozart’s opera “La Flauta mágica,” cast A.
